With Air Conditioning
SPECIAL TOOLS
REMOVAL
1. Reclaim the refrigerant.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the instrument panel.
4. Raise and support the vehicle.
5. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
6. Disconnect the vacuum line from the engine.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
1 Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
2 Disconnect the blower motor resistor electrical connector.
9. Remove the ignition coil.
10. Pull off the clips of the air conditioning lines.
11. Using the special tool, disconnect the line to the accumulator/drier at the evaporator.
NOTE: Seal the line and the evaporator with plugs.
12. Using the special tool, disconnect the line from the condenser at the evaporator.
NOTE: Seal the line and the evaporator with plugs.
13. Remove the nut on the heater/evaporator core housing.
14. Remove the lower defroster air duct from the heater/evaporator core housing.
1 Remove the screw.
2 Release the retaining tabs.
15. Disconnect the right and left-hand air hose from the heater/evaporator core housing (left hand side shown).
16. Disconnect the air distributor from the heater/evaporator core housing (housing shown removed).
17. Remove the heater/evaporator core housing.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
