Coupler HVAC: Service and Repair

SPECIAL TOOLS







1. Remove the A/C tube lock coupling clip from the spring lock coupling.







2. Attach the Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool to the spring lock coupling.







3. Push the tool into the cage opening to release the female fitting from the A/C tube lock coupling spring.







4. Pull the spring lock coupling fitting apart.







5. Remove the O-ring seals with a non-metallic tool.

CAUTION: Do not use metal O-ring tools. They can cause axial scratches across the O-ring grooves resulting in refrigerant leaks.







6. Remove the lock coupling spring if damaged with a small hooked wire.

CAUTION: Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool to remove the A/C tube lock coupling spring. They can cause axial scratches across the O-ring grooves resulting in refrigerant leaks.







7. Install the A/C tube lock coupling spring.







8. Lubricate and install the O-ring seals.
^ Use Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.







9. Connect the spring lock coupling fitting with a twisting motion.
^ Press the expanding ring into the clamping ring and connect the line.







10. Install the A/C tube lock coupling clip.
