Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair
Disconnect Tool, Spring Lock Coupling:
SPECIAL TOOLS
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable
2. Reclaim the refrigerant.
3. Remove the Air Conditioning (A/C) hose bracket from the coolant tube.
4. Remove the radiator grille.
5. Remove the left-hand headlamp assembly.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Using the special tool, disconnect the tube from the accumulator/drier to the A/C compressor.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.
NOTE: Seal the tube and the connection with plugs.
8. Raise and support the vehicle.
9. Remove the radiator splash shield.
10. Remove upper A/C tube from the A/C condenser.
11. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) and unclip the cable.
12. Remove the front exhaust pipe.
1 Unclip the HO2S wiring.
2 Remove the nuts.
13. Remove the two front right-hand splash shield parts (wheel removed for clarity).
14. Remove the A/C compressor heat shield.
15. Detach the A/C compressor.
^ Disconnect the tube.
^ Remove the bolts.
NOTE: Seal the tube and the connection with plugs.
16. Remove the A/C compressor.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.
17. Remove the manifold and tube assembly.
INSTALLATION
NOTE:
^ Install new O-ring seals and coat with refrigerant oil.
^ When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. Accessory Drive.
1 Belt tensioner
2 Generator pulley
3 Belt idler pulley
4 Power steering pump pulley
5 A/C compressor pulley
6 Crankshaft pulley
