Steering Shaft Coupler: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Wait one minute for the driver side air bag module backup power supply to deplete.

WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG MODULE COMPONENTS.

2. Remove the steering column.





3. Remove the (A) steering column shaft to steering column gear input shaft coupling bolt and remove (B) the steering column intermediate shaft coupling.





INSTALLATION
1. Install the steering column intermediate shaft coupling.
2. Install the steering column.
