ISSUE:
The temperature control for the heater-A/C may not control the temperature of the discharge air. This may be caused by the temperature control cable not being locked in place onto the heater temperature door shaft.
ACTION:
Install the temperature control cable onto the temperature door shaft. This should make the temperature control functional again. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Turn the temperature control knob to full cold position.
2. Locate the A/C temperature control cable connection to the control door shaft at the heater plenum (on driver's side just above driver's right foot). Refer to Figure 1.
3. Push hard on the A/C temperature control cable (until a click is heard) toward the heater plenum so that the locking "V" tab on the cable will engage and lock into the temperature control door shaft groove. Refer to Figure 2.
NOTE:
WHEN THE LOCKING "V" TAB PROPERLY ENGAGES WITH THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL DOOR SHAFT GROOVE, A CLICK WILL BE HEARD.
4. Pull back on the cable firmly to check for proper engagement. If the cable does not come off, it is locked and the procedure is complete.
5. If the cable continues to be able to be pulled off of the door shaft after following the first 4 Steps, replace the temperature control cable and then follow Steps 1-4.
6. If the new A/C temperature control cable cannot be connected and properly engaged, replace the heater plenum.
