Replacement
REPLACEMENT1. Relieve fuel system pressure. See Powertrain Management.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove upper intake manifold.
4. Disconnect fuel supply and return lines from fuel injection supply manifold (9F792). See Powertrain Management.
5. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) from fuel injectors (9F593) and valve cover retaining studs. Position engine control sensor wiring aside.
6. Disconnect vacuum supply line from fuel pressure regulator (9C968) and IMRC vacuum solenoid and position aside.
7. If required, remove fuel injection supply manifold and fuel injectors from lower intake manifold (IMRC).
8. Disconnect intake manifold runner control actuator cable from stud and bracket.
9. Remove lower intake manifold to cylinder head retaining bolts in sequence shown.
10. Remove lower intake manifold (IMRC) from cylinder heads (6049).
11. Remove intake manifold gaskets (9439) from cylinder heads and discard intake manifold gaskets.
12. To install, reverse removal procedure using new intake manifold gaskets. Tighten lower intake manifold retaining bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.) in sequence shown. If removed, tighten IMRC actuator cable bracket retaining bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.). Connect fuel supply and return lines. See Powertrain Management.
