Starter Bearing: Service and Repair

1. Press or tap the bushings out of their housing using a driver of the appropriate size. Be sure the housing is well supported.
2. Immerse new bushings in clean engine oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C 153-F for at least 20 minutes before installation.
3. Press or tap the new bushing into position using a driver.

NOTE: Do not ream the bushings after installation since the self-lubricating qualities of the bushing may be damaged.
