Air Register: Description and Operation

Air distribution is controlled by four instrument panel A/C registers.
^ Retaining holes located on the sides of the A/C register louver assemblies lock the louver assemblies to pivot pins in the A/C housing trim panel register.
^ The louver assembly pivots and directs A/C register outlet air up and down while louvers permit side-to-side air distribution.
^ A knob located at the side of the louver assembly controls an A/C register air outlet shut-off door installed in the rear of the instrument panel trim panel A/C register housing opening.
^ The holes lock the louver assembly to pivot pins in the A/C register housing.
^ The housing has four flexible tabs (two on top and two on the bottom) that lock the housing into the instrument panel A/C register assembly opening.
