Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
WARNING: On models with anti-lock brakes, the brake system accumulator must be depressurized before disconnecting any hydraulic lines or fittings. Depressurize the system by pumping the brake pedal a minimum of 25 times with the ignition in the OFF position.
NOTE: On models with air suspension, turn service switch OFF before beginning repairs, then turn ON again after completing service.
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove flexible brake hose retaining bolt from caliper, then plug hose and caliper fitting.
3. Using Torx(R) Drive Bit D79P-2100-T40 or equivalent, remove caliper locating pins.
4. Lift caliper off rotor and anchor plate using a rotating motion.
CAUTION: Do not pry directly against plastic piston or damage to the piston will result.
INSTALLATION
1. Retract piston fully into piston bore and position caliper assembly above rotor with anti-rattle spring located on lower adapter support arm.
2. Install caliper over rotor with rotating motion. Ensure inner shoe is correctly positioned.
3. Install caliper locating pins. The caliper locating pins must be inserted and started by hand.
4. Torque locating pins to 26-35 ft lb.
5. Remove plugs from caliper fittings, then install flexible brake hose on caliper with a new gasket on each side of fitting outlet.
6. Insert retaining bolt through washers and fittings. Torque bolt to 30-40 ft lb.
7. Perform system brake bleeding procedures.
8. Pump brake pedal prior to moving vehicle to position brake linings.
