Valve Body: Service and Repair

Some models may require removal of interfering exhaust system components to gain access to control valve body.
1. Raise and support vehicle, drain transmission fluid, then remove transmission pan, gasket and filter.
2. Remove detent spring attaching bolt, then the spring.
3. Remove valve body to case attaching bolts, then the valve body.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Use suitable guide pins to align valve body to case.
b. Torque valve body-to-case attaching bolts to 6.5-8.1 ft. lbs.
c. Torque detent spring attaching bolt to 6.5-8.1 ft. lbs.
d. Torque filter attaching bolts to 6.5-8.1 ft. lbs.
e. Torque oil pan attaching bolts to 6-9 ft. lbs.
