The intermediate and low-reverse bands adjusting screw locknut must be discarded and a new one installed each time a band is adjusted.

INTERMEDIATE BAND

1. Disconnect downshift linkage from transmission lever.
2. Discard adjusting screw locknut and install a new locknut.
3. With tools shown in Fig. 5, tighten adjusting screw until tool handle clicks. This tool is a pre-set torque wrench which clicks and overruns when the torque on the adjusting screw reaches 10 ft. lbs.
4. Back off adjusting screw two turns.
5. Hold adjusting screw from turning and tighten locknut.
6. Connect downshift linkage to transmission lever.
