Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation

These vehicles use a three-way catalytic converter mounted in the engine exhaust system. This type converter, which contains platinum and palladium, converts unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide to harmless emission and minimizes the emission of nitrous oxides.
