Transaxle Installation-2.3L Continued (Part 2 of 2)25. Install the shift cable bracket, ground wires and plug in the bulkhead electrical connector.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
26. NOTE: If installing an exchange transaxle, the digital TR sensor must be aligned.
Using the special tool, align the digital TR sensor.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
27. Install the rear transaxle mount center bolt.
^ Tighten to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.).
28. If the vehicle is not equipped with a Power Takeoff (PTO), install the dampener.
29. Install the PTO assembly.
^ Tighten to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
30. If equipped with a PTO, install the driveshaft.
^ Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
31. Install the bracket.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
32. Install the front bolts on the exhaust-to-engine bracket.
^ Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
33. Install the nuts on the rear of the exhaust-to-engine bracket.
^ Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
34. Install the intermediate shaft.
35. Install the intermediate shaft retaining nuts.
^ Tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
36. Install the RH halfshaft and lower control arm bolts.
1 Install the lower control arm bolt.
^ Tighten to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.).
2 Install the lower control arm bolt.
^ Tighten to 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.).
37. Install the LH halfshaft into the wheel knuckle and install a new nut.
^ Tighten to 290 Nm (214 ft. lbs.).
38. Install the cross brace and the rear nut.
^ Tighten to 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs.).
39. Install the 2 bolts for the brace.
^ Tighten to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
40. Install the bolt for the mount.
^ Tighten to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.).
41. Install the cross brace and the 4 bolts.
^ Tighten to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
42. Install the LH splash shield and the 7 retainers.
43. Install the RH splash shield and the 7 retainers.
44. Install the vent tube to the fluid level indicator.
45. Install the air cleaner assembly.
46. NOTE: Before installing the battery tray, check the vent tube hose for any obstructions, kinks or incorrect routing position.
Install the battery tray.
47. Fill the transaxle with clean automatic transmission fluid.
48. Check the fluid level and correct as necessary.
