Electronic Brake Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
The anti-lock brake control module is located behind the instrument panel lower center panel.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the storage bin or C/D changer, if equipped.
3. Remove the RH instrument panel lower cover and LH instrument panel lower cover.
4. Disconnect the foot lamp electrical connectors.
5. Remove the three timer module screws and position the timer module aside.

Anti-Lock Brake Control Module:





6. Disconnect the anti-lock brake control module electrical harness connector. Use a screwdriver to pry back the metal retainer and remove the harness connector.
7. Disconnect the surrounding anti-lock brake control module electrical harness connectors and move the harnesses out of the way.





8. Remove three anti-lock brake control module screws from the module bracket.





9. Remove the anti-lock brake control module.

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If the module is exposed to these charges, damage may result.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the anti-lock brake control module in the vehicle.

2. Install the three anti-lock brake control module screws in the module bracket.
3. Connect the surrounding anti-lock brake control module electrical harness connectors.
4. Connect the anti-lock brake control module electrical harness connector.
5. Position the timer module and install the three timer module screws.
6. Connect the foot lamp electrical connectors, if equipped.
7. Install the RH instrument panel lower cover and LH instrument panel lower cover.
8. Install the storage bin.
9. Connect the battery ground cable.
