AR67.10-P-1000-04SXS Align Windshield In Body Opening
AR67.10-P-1000-04SXS Align Windshield In Body Opening
(Model 221.1 with CODE (Z07) Top Protection)
Special Tools:
Aid of helper is required for positioning, aligning and prying out the windshield (1). Position suction lifting device in upper third of windshield (1). The windshield (1) must be installed at an acute angle to the A-pillars, otherwise the installation operation is unnecessary difficult and the danger exists of the windshield (1) heating against the body flange and being damaged. When aligning the windshield (1), check the gap (C) between the splinter guard strips on A-pillar (4) and windshield (1) as well as the gap (C) between the roof splinter guard strip (3) and windshield (1) and adjust if required. It is absolutely necessary to ensure that gap (C) is maintained, otherwise, the windshield (1) can be damaged.
1. Screw in screws (2) flush with tapping plate.
The screws (2) serve for height adjustment of the windshield (1) in the body opening.
2. Form five plasticine balls (5) with a diameter of 5 mm and position uniformly distributed over the entire length of the roof splinter guard strip (3).
The plasticine balls (5) serve later for determination of the gap (C) between the roof splinter guard strip (3) and windshield (1).
3. Center windshield (1) above body opening and slowly lower aligned centered with the A-pillars, however, do not set down against the rubber window spacers on the A-pillar guard plates.
Align the windshield (1) above the rubber window spacers while still suspended. If the gross weight of the windshield (1) is placed on the rubber windshield spacers alone, they can tilt when correcting the installation position of the windshield (1), damaging the windshield (1).
4. Adjust distance between windshield (1) and front edge of roof by turning the screws (2).
The inside of the top apex seal of the windshield (1) should make contact with the front edge of the roof.
5. Lower windshield (1) onto rubber window spacers and measure transition between windshield (1) and front edge of roof with a straight edge.
The transition should be flush and should not deviate more than 1 mm upward or downward.
6. Check gap (C) between A-pillar splinter guard strips (4) and windshield (1).
The gap dimension (C) should be in the tolerance range of approx. 1 to 3 mm.
7. Mark installation position of windshield (1) by gluing on suitable strips of tape (arrows) in the area of the front edge of the roof and cut through strips of tape (arrows) at top of apex seal.
8. Carefully lift windshield (1) from body flange with aid of helper.
9. Measure height of compressed plasticine balls (5).
The height of the compressed plasticine balls (5) is simultaneously the present gap dimension (C) between the roof splinter guard strip (3) and windshield (1).
10. Change height of rubber window spacers, according to gap dimension (C) measured.
Only when gap dimension (C) is within the tolerance of approx. 1 to 3 mm.
Ensure that the transition between the windshield (1) and front edge of the roof is flush or does not deviate more than 1 mm upward or downward. If the gap dimensions (C) cannot be achieved while maintaining the transition between the windshield (1) and front edge of the roof, it is necessary to adjust the appropriate gap dimensions C) by removing or replacing the spacer washers (6) (see separate repair instructions).
11. Check gap dimension (C) between roof splinter guard strip (3) and windshield (1) as well as A-pillar splinter guard strips (4) and windshield (1) again and correct if necessary.
Only when it was necessary to correct the gap dimension (C) by using rubber window spacers of different height.
