Location
The rear AC control unit is located in the armrest between the front seats.

Design
The rear AC control unit includes the following control and display elements:
^ Left temperature button (1)
^ Left air distribution button (2)
^ Air volume button (3)
^ Function mode button (4)
^ Right air distribution button (5)
^ Right temperature button (6)
^ Display (7)

Scope of tasks
The rear AC control unit is a pure operating unit. All settings on the rear AC control unit are transmitted via the telematics CAN to the COMAND control unit (A40/3), transferred via the central CAN to the central gateway control unit (N93) and via interior CAN to the AAC [KLA] control unit (N22/1). The AAC [KLA] control unit performs all actuations of the AC functions in the rear.

The rear AC control unit allows the following operations:
^ Interior temperature selection, separately for left and right
^ Air distribution preselection, separately for left and right
^ Air volume setting
^ Residual engine heat utilization system activation
^ Function mode selection

Control possibilities

Left and right temperature button
The left and right temperature button can be used to select the desired specified temperature for the particular rear side. The set value appears on the display.

Function mode button
The function mode button can be used to select between automatic mode and manual mode, or to switch the system off.

Left and right air distribution button
The left and right air distribution button can be used to manually select the air distribution in the rear. The selected air distribution is indicated in the display by corresponding symbols.

Air volume button
The air volume button can be used to set the specified blower value. The manual control is only possible in fixed defined steps. The selected air volume is indicated in the display by corresponding symbols.

Engine residual heat utilization system
By pressing any button, the residual engine heat utilization can be activated in the event of circuit 15 Off or circuit 15C. By pressing the right air distribution button or the function mode button until the mode "OFF" is reached, the residual engine heat utilization can be switched off.

Display

Display
The temperature appears on the display in either �C or �F depending on the instrument cluster (A1) setting. The operation of the rear AC functions via the front central operating unit (A40/9) is indicated in the display with a corresponding symbol.
