Using the new STAR DIAGNOSIS software, it is still also possible to address older central gateway control units (N93) (CGW). The system check is always ensured.
The system diagnosis integrated into the CGW control unit is no longer used.
STAR DIAGNOSIS reads out the fault codes directly from the fault memory of the control units and evaluates the faults. For this, STAR DIAGNOSIS must be connected to the CGW control unit by the connector of the data link connector (X11/4) and by the diagnosis bus. The CGW control unit has access to the Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C), the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B), as well as to the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).
Programming of the vehicle variants
The different variants, such as special equipment, national and functional versions, are stored in the CGW at the factory at the end of production and activated specific to the vehicle.
In certain cases, it is necessary for the CGW control unit to be programmed in the workshop:
- Faulty CGW control unit
- Supplementing or installing a new version of a CAN-B, CAN-C or MOST control unit that requires an update.
The following information is displayed using STAR DIAGNOSIS for each diagnosis result:
- Control unit version
- Actual values
- Control unit adaptations
- Complete list of conducted tests
- Complete list of fault codes
