The evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6) is located in the air flow behind the evaporator. It passes on its resistance value, depending on the temperature at the evaporator, to the AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22) (with code (580) Air conditioning (or Tempmatic for USA) or code (580) Automatic air conditioning) or to the comfort AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22/7) (with code (581) Automatic air conditioning or code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning).

The refrigerant compressor (A9) is switched off when the evaporator temperature reaches approx. 2 �C. This serves to prevent the evaporator from icing up.
