Remove/Install
1 Remove bottom part of oil pan.
2 Detach right exhaust pipe (1) at exhaust manifold

CAUTION: Installation: Replace bolts (2). Inspect rivet nuts in exhaust manifold, replace if necessary, Replace rivet nuts in exhaust manifold.

3 Disconnect bracket (3) at right exhaust pipe (1).

CAUTION: Installation: Check threaded rail (4), replace if necessary.
- Install new nuts (5).


4 Detach right exhaust pipe (1) at flange connection (6)
5 Unscrew bolts (7) of right and left engine mounts at front axle carrier.
6 Unplug connector from oil level sensor (B40).
7 Remove air cleaner housing (8)

NOTE: Removal: Detach air cleaner housing vertically toward top from the cylinder head covers.

Installation: Moisten the retaining rubber on the cylinder head covers and the hot film mass air flow sensor seal in the air cleaner housing lightly with lubricant.

8 Remove dipstick guide tube (9).
9 Fit on engine supporting frame.
10 Raise engine

CAUTION: When raising engine, ensure that the rear of the engine does not touch the body and that the coolant lines, hydraulic lines and compressor lines are not over-tensioned.

11 Take off bracket (10) of ATF lines (11) at top part of oil pan.
12 Disconnect ATF lines (11) at transmission

CAUTION: Installation: Replace sealing rings of banjo bolts (12).

13 Unbolt top part of oil pan (13)

CAUTION: Installation: Observe different bolt lengths and bolt diameters! Bolt diagram of oil pan.

14 Remove oil pan top section (13)

NOTE: Removal For this step, take out oil pan to the front in direction of travel; rotate crankshaft slightly, if necessary.

CAUTION: Installation: Observe sealing compound flow to oil pan top section. Application of sealant to top part of oil pan engine 112.

15 Install in the reverse order
16 Read fault memory and erase

NOTE: STAR Diagnosis.

DANGER:
- Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during startup or while running may result in contusions and burns.
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and tight-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.


17 Inspect ATF level in automatic transmission, top up if necessary.
18 Run engine and inspect for leaks.
