The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is not equipped with a drive for compact cassettes (CC). However, it is possible to use a walkman or minidisk player (MD) using the "AUX" external connection in the glove compartment.

The audio signals are preamplified by the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and the entered tone settings (volume, bass, treble and fader) are made. The sound amplifier integrated in the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) provides the final amplification for the audio signals before they are output on the vehicle speakers.
