Guidance In Non-Digitalized MAP Area

When driving outside of the digitalized map area (e.g. company grounds, enclosed parking facilities, rural roads, ...), however, still within the CD-ROM map boundaries, the navigation processor (A40/3n2) switches over to "Guidance in non-digitalized map area".

The message

"OFF ROAD"

appears on the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3).

If the vehicle is outside of the CD-ROM map boundaries (outside of country) the display also indicates the message:

"NO MAP"

In both cases only basic location finding (dead reckoning) with correction using the GPS data is accomplished (no map matching). The (limited) guidance is accomplished only by indicating:
- The straight line distance to the destination and
- The direction to the destination (as arrow).

After reentering the digitalized map area "Guidance in digitalized map area" is reassumed automatically. With the aid of the GPS position the possible streets are determined, on which the vehicle could be located. However, this may result in temporary delays in the guidance function.


NOTE: In the case of the "NO MAP" message complete guidance can be resumed after inserting the corresponding foreign country CD-ROM.
