Maintenance Indicator Function
The maintenance indicator shows the driver when maintenance service is due. The maintenance indicator operates according to a distance traveled and time criterion. After exceeding a total distance or total time set at the factory, the maintenance indicator becomes active: The tool symbol (a) comes on and the maintenance information (b) is displayed instead of the total mileage.
The maintenance indicator obtains its time information from the electronic clock integrated into the instrument cluster. The odometer signal calculated in the instrument cluster is used for the mileage information. For this purpose the instrument cluster receives four wheel speed signals via the CAN data bus from the traction system control module. (Speedometer, odometer and maintenance indicator are therefore closely interrelated).
