Remove/Install Rubber Mount For Center Assembly In Rear Axle






REMOVAL
1. Remove complete rear suspension, refer to Steering and Suspension
2. Detach bolts from extension carrier (54a)
- Observe installed position of hexagon bolts
3. Detach front center assembly suspension





4. Using extractor and pulling tool No. 140 589 09 43 00, or equivalent (parts 07, 08), pull both rubber mounts (62) forwards out of the rear axle carrier

INSTALLATION
- Install in reverse order, noting the following:
- Using the extractor and pulling tool (parts 05, 06) install mounts as follows:





- Pull right rubber mount into the rear axle carrier until the pulling disc (06) abuts the rear axle carrier.





- Pull in left rubber mount so far until the pulling disc (06) is about 5 mm away from the rear axle cross member (arrows)
- Check installed position of center assembly (50) in rear axle carrier as follows:





a. Check and correct installed position of center piece in rear axle carrier using the test device (01) of the extractor and pulling tool (05, 06).
b. Insert test device (01) with hexagon bolt (62a) and hexagon nut (62b) on the right side and tighten slightly. Install pulling tool (05, 06) on the left side.
c. Pull left rubber mount into the rear axle carrier (arrow) until the pin of the test arm (01) is in the center of the front oval hole in the cross member
- Install right hand extension carrier (54a) bolt from the back together with shaped washer
- Tighten the following components as noted:
- Self-locking nut, at the front rear axle center piece assembly on rear axle carrier: 45 Nm
- Self-locking nut, at the back of the center piece/extension carrier on rear axle carrier: 100 Nm
