Alternator Pulley / Clutch: Service and Repair




Preliminary work:
Poly V-belt slackened
Engine compartment paneling removed






Quiescent current retention unit
disconnect, connect.

Ground cable at battery
disconnect, connect.

Collar nut (1)
unscrew, screw on, tightening torque 80 Nm.
Use socket (10 mm) with internal serrations together with reversing ratchet to hold the shaft (2).

Poly V-belt pulley (3)
take off, fit on.

The poly V-belt pulley (3) is subject to very diverse stresses. The level of the stresses depends primarily on driving conditions. For this reason, when reconditioning generators after mileages of more than 60,000 (100,000 km) also renew the poly V-belt pulley (3).
