Remove and Install Rear AC Housing

Air conditioner
Empty (recycling).

Pressure in cooling system
Release, by turning the radiator cap up to detent "1" and close again.

Vehicle
Raise.

Paneling behind front right-hand side member
Remove (6 screws).

Supply and return hoses (c and d)
Loosen, pull off hoses and drain water, blow out residual fluid with compressed air, seal opening.





Driver's and front passenger's seat
Remove. Service and Repair

Control unit
Remove. Service and Repair

Center console
Remove. Service and Repair

Suction and pressure line on expansion valve
Remove (1 screw - internal hexagon 5), seal openings, (parts set 140 830 01 27).

Plug connections N29/2 X 1 and B10/11 X 1
Disconnect

Plug connections on the temperature sensors B10/9 and B10/10
Pull off.

Electrical lines in the area of the rear air conditioner unit
Expose.

Hot water lines to heat exchanger
Remove, unscrew screw (23), seal openings (parts set 140 830 01 27)

Rear air conditioner unit
Remove, unscrew screws (10).

Install
In reverse sequence, renew the O-rings at the same time (lubricate O-rings for refrigerant lines with compressor oil).

Receiver dehydrator
Renew. Service and Repair

Coolant level
Correct.

Air conditioner
Evacuate, refill, check function and check for leaks; run engine at idle speed only in the first 4 minutes.
