The piston crown and the area surrounding the first piston ring are nickel plated. The piston identification number, the group number and the driving direction arrow are ink stamped on the piston crown. Also, the piston identification number and group number are stamped into the side near the wrist pin, Fig. 8.
The connecting rods with upper and lower balance weights are installed with the narrow sides facing one another and are axially guided by the crankshaft. The connecting rod bearing cap is fixed to the connecting rod with two centered sleeves. The bearing cap screws are fastened in the threads of the connecting rod, Fig. 9.
Connecting rod bolt maximum shank length is 2.083 inches.
Torque connecting rod bolts to 33.2 ft. lbs., then turn an additional 90-100°.
