Muffler: Service and Repair

DANGER!
- Risk of explosion as a result of fuel vapors igniting.
- Risk of poisoning as a result of inhaling vapors and open handling of fuel.
- Risk of injury as a result of fuel splashing into eyes.
- No fire, naked flame or smoking.
- Avoid the creation of sparks.
- Pour and store fuel only in the containers provided for this purpose.
- Wear protective gloves and, if necessary, eye protection when handling fuels.

Center And Rear Muffler:

1. Remove exhaust system downstream of flanged connection.
2. Place new rear muffler (9a) with plug connection exactly over the removed exhaust system and mark length of pipe of new rear muffler on the removed exhaust system.
3. Cut through the pipe 80 mm from the marking (tolerance minus 10 mm) in direction of rear muffler so as to ensure an insertion depth of 70 - 80 mm:
- If center muffler faulty, the center and rear muffler unit must be replaced complete.
4. Install in reverse sequence:
- Use exhaust pipe clamp (7/2).

Rear Muffler:

NOTE: When attaching the exhaust system, ensure that the projection "a" of the bracket at the rear muffler is not more than 3 - 5 mm at the rubber mount (18) when exhaust is cold.
