Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

Fig. 2 Intake & Exhaust Manifold Replacement:

1. Disable airbag system as described in Air Bags, and refer to Service Precautions for the SRS system. Restraints and Safety Systems.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly, then disconnect all fuel lines from fuel distributor and injectors.
3. Remove fuel filler cap to relieve pressure.
4. Remove regulator holder, then loosen hose clamp on rubber sleeve between throttle valve housing and air guide housing.
5. Remove rubber insulator nuts, then disconnect electrical connectors from mixture controller and air guide housing.
6. Remove mixture controller and air guide housing together with the idle speed air hose.
7. Disconnect two hoses from idle speed air distributor.
8. Remove injector holders, then disconnect return spring and linkages from throttle body.
9. Disconnect all remaining electrical connectors, vacuum lines, coolant lines and linkages from intake manifold.
10. Remove intake manifold support bracket.
11. Remove intake manifold attaching bolts and the manifold, Fig. 2.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
