Shift Interlock Cable: Adjustments

The arrangement of cables and locking levers has been modified.
The locking lever for the brake pedal has been moved towards the front of the vehicle and the locking lever for the steering locking has been moved towards the rear.
The cables are each fastened individually with pipe clamps.
Installation Note
Install shift lock cables free from tension and without kinks.
Adjusting Cable After Replacement
Move selector lever to position "P" and turn ignition key to position "0".
Release pipe clamp for steering lock cable (40L) and pun steering lock cable in direction of arrow until locking lever for Steering lock (44L) contacts the cam (48). Tighten pipe clamp to 5 Nm.
Release pipe clamp for brake pedal cable (40B) and pull brake pedal cable in direction of arrow until brake pedal locking lever (44B) contacts the cam (48). Tighten pipe clamp to 5 Nm.
Adjusting Cable Without Replacement
It is not necessary to remove the center console.
Remove and install shift gate cover.
Carefully press out air duct using a large screwdriver or plastic wedge.
NOTE: Do not damage the duct.
Move selector lever to position "P" and ignition key to position "0".
Release pipe clamp for steering lock cable (40L) and slowly pull cable in direction of arrow using pliers until slight resistance is detectable.
Tighten pipe clamp to 5 Nm.
Release pipe clamp for brake pedal cable (44B) and slowly pull cable in direction of arrow using pliers until slight resistance is detectable.
Tighten pipe clamp to 5 Nm.
