C. Removing, Installing & Adjusting Trunk Lid Latch Mechanism
1. Open trunk lid and remove trunk lid trim piece.2. Remove 4 mounting screws (1, Figure 1) and disconnect pressure supply line (6, Figure 1).
3. Remove retractable trunk lid handle assembly from trunk lid.
4. Manually retract the latch tongue (100) by sliding the manual operation switch (30) to the left, push latch tongue (100) into trunk lid and slide switch (30) to the right (Figure 20.
5. Remove pressure supply line from pneumatic actuator (10) and unplug microswitch (S88/3s1, Figure 2).
6. Remove both mounting screws (70) and plate (80, Figure 2).
7. Remove trunk latch mechanism by tilting left side of latch mechanism (end with pneumatic actuator) downward and sliding out of trunk lid.
8. Reinstall in reverse order.
Adjusting trunk lid latch mechanism
9. Loosen trunk lid latch mechanism mounting screws (10, Figure 3).
10. Carefully close trunk lid while visually verifying the latch tongue (11, Figure 4) is entering the lock mechanism (7, Figure 4) in a centered position.
11. If necessary, adjust latch tongue transversely or longitudinally (arrows, Figure 5), tighten screws.
Tightening torque:
10 Nm.
4. Check trunk lid for ease of movement and locking function. Verify proper alignment and flushness of trunk lid to rear fender edges. If further adjustments are necessary, loosen lock mechanism mounting screws (2 and 3, Figure 6) and adjust mechanism vertically only. Moving latch mechanism back and forth may alter adjustment and cause central locking operation problems.
5. Install all other parts in reverse order.
