REMOVAL

On 420SEL and 560SEC and SEL series vehicles using Girling type brake calipers, refer to 190D and E Series removal and installation procedures.
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove tire and wheel assembly.
3. Open brake caliper bleeder screw, then pump brake fluid out of front brake circuit.
4. Disconnect and cap brake hose from brake line.
5. On vehicles with wear indicator, pull clip sensor cables out of caliper plug connector.
6. On all models, remove brake lining wear indicator plug connector and brake hose from caliper.
7. Cap caliper and brake hose openings.
8. Unstake locking plate, then remove caliper pin attaching bolts.
9. Remove caliper from steering knuckle.

INSTALLATION

1. Using new locking plate and attaching bolts, install caliper onto steering knuckle, Figs. 1 through 3.
2. Torque caliper to steering knuckle to specifications.
3. Insert brake hose through bracket. Ensure bracket guide bracket is not damaged.
4. Connect brake hose onto caliper.
5. On vehicles with brake lining wear indicator, connect plug connector onto caliper assembly. Insert clip sensor cable into plug connector.
6. On all models, connect brake line onto brake hose. Ensure brake hose is not twisted.
7. Bleed brake system, and check brake system for leaks.
