Up to 05/91








Lower engine compartment covering
Remove.

Air conditioner
Drain (recycling).

Front central stiffening member
Remove (7 screws).

Protective grille
Remove, 2 clips (1), 2 screw clips (2).

Upper pressure line
Unscrew at condenser and seal off openings (parts set 140 830 01 27).

2 lip seals
Pull off.

Electrical connectors (M4x1 and M4x2)
Disconnect and remove cable (4 clips).

Jack up vehicle
Open left-hand opening in bumper.

Retainer for pressure line
Remove (1 nut).

Pressure line on condenser
Remove and seal off openings.

Lower vehicle
and unscrew 2 screws (3) holding condenser.

Condenser
Lift out

3 screws (4)
Unscrew.

Bracket with auxiliary fans
Remove.

Install
In reverse sequence, lubricate the connection thread with compressor oil (refer to note below).

Receiver dehydrator
Replace. Service and Repair

Air conditioner
Evacuate, refill, check function and check for leaks; run engine at idle speed only in the first 4 minutes.

NOTE: If the condenser is not reinstalled immediately, flush out the condenser with nitrogen. Then seal off the connections with plugs. When renewing the condenser fill with 20 cubic cm compressor oil

NOTE: After completing the work:
Erase fault memory in the control unit. Parts which have come into contact with compressor oil for R12 or R134a may only be installed in systems operating with the same refrigerant.

Lower line to condenser 24 ± 4
Upper line to condenser 17 ± 3
