Brake Line Hose/Electrical Wire - Routing Modified

With the production start-up of model 560SL (Model Year 1986), the routing of the brake line hoses and electrical wiring in the front wheelhousings was changed (Figure 2). Simultaneously, brake hoses measuring 340 mm were installed (previously 420 mm). At the bracket end of the shorter brake hose, the hex. nut has a width across the flats of 17 mm.

Repair Note:
If the modified front end or wheelhousing is installed in a vehicle produced prior to September 1985, then the longer brake hose (420 mm) as well as the electrical wires must be attached to the modified brake hose bracket (Figure 4). This requires the use of an adapter bracket, which must be ordered separately.
