Indicator Does Not Glow, Engine Won't Start
Fig. 32 Preglow Time Relay Plug Terminal ID:
1. Measure voltage between terminal 30 of the preglow relay and ground. If battery voltage is indicated proceed with step 2. If it is not, check the red wire from terminal 30 of preglow time relay for continuity. Repair open circuit.
2. Check 80 Amp fuse for continuity through the holder. Measure voltage between fuse outlet and ground. If battery voltage is measured, proceed with step 3. If battery voltage is not measured, repair fuse connections, replacing fuse if necessary. Check glow plug wires and connections for a short to ground.
3. Check voltage between pin 1 of 4-pin plug, Fig. 32, on preglow time relay and ground with ignition switch in position "2". If reading equals approximately 12 volts, proceed with step 4. If reading does not equal approximately 12 volts, check red/black wire from electrical center to pin 1 of 4-pin plug on preglow time relay for continuity and repair open circuit as needed.
4. Measure voltage between pins 1 and 4 of 4-pin plug on preglow time relay with ignition switch in position "2". If reading equals approximately 12 volts, replace preglow time relay. If reading does not equal approximately 12 volts, check brown wire from pin 4 for continuity to ground. Repair open circuit as needed.
