SUBJECT: RUBBER MOUNTS FOR REAR DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR MODEL 201
FIGURE 1:
Since April 1984, modified window regulator mounts with a serrated seating surface (arrow) have been installed to prevent the seat from turning and the rubber segment from being damaged while tightening the nut (Figure 1).
If a window regulator is noisy or hard to move due to a loose or torn mount (previous version), all three mounts should be replaced with the modified version.
NOTE: Check if the other door also has a noisy or binding window regulator. If so, replace all three mounts.

Replacement of Rubber Mounts
1. Remove rear window regulator (Service Microfiche Job No. 72-187).
2. Unscrew the remainder (if any) of the mount(s) from the inside of door.
3.. Coat the special thread of the mount with locking compound (Part No. 002 989 94 71) and replace each mount (arrows) one at a time, since the steel cable should not be allowed to slacken completely (Figure 2).

NOTE: Replace mount in the elongated hole last (See Figure 5, lower arrow, and step 5).

INPORTANT: Use an 18 mm deep socket, with the internal bevel (arrow) ground off (Figure 3) to tighten mounts to 4 N-m torque.

4. Be sure to tighten the mount by the lower hex (Figure 4, arrow).

5. Tension the steel cable by swinging the motor down to its stop (steel cable taut); then tighten the mount at the elongated hole (Figure 5, lower arrow).
6. Install window regulator.
