Fuel Tank - Replacement, Standardized Part

85mercedes01
TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS

DATE: January, 1985 REF. NO. MBNA 47/2

SUBJECT: FUEL TANK MODEL 201

To standardize parts, only one version fuel tank (Part No. 201 470 08 01) is now supplied from the PDC's for either model 190D or 190E.

The new fuel tank for model 190D has a fuel dampening bowl located around the fuel strainer, identical to the 190E fuel tank. This tank is not supplied with a fuel gauge sending unit, sealing plate (used under fuel outlet/strainer connection), fuel strainer, filler neck restrictor (190E) or fuel cap. These parts should be taken from the old tank and fitted to the new tank (check parts carefully, replace if required).

Install the fuel strainer with a new seal, and check if it's applicable for a diesel or gasoline car by its inscription "Diesel" or "Benzin" (gasoline). The plastic filler neck restrictor must be installed on gasoline models to ensure that only unleaded gas can be used.
