A. Engines 100, 116 and 117 with CIS
Since August 1981 production, Mann & Hummel type air filter elements were installed with a modified sealing lip.
Air filter elements on the above engines should be inspected for cracks on the sealing lip, while performing routine maintenance or engine repair. This damage may result, for example, by stretching of the seal during installation or cleaning of the filter element. A filter element with a torn sealing lip must be replaced.

*The packing carton containing the modified filter element is identified with a black or blue dot behind the part number.
B. Engines 616 and 617 with Dry Type Air Cleaner
Since September 1981 production, Mann & Hummel air filter elements with modified sealing lip were also installed on these engines.
Air filter elements on the above engines must be inspected while performing maintenance or engine repair. The sealing lip located near the perforated sheet metal band should be checked for damage. Replace any damaged air filter elements.
NOTE:
Air filter elements with a perforated sheet metal band have been installed since April 1980.

C. Spare Part Air Filter Elements
Mann & Hummel air filter elements are being supplied only with the modified sealing lip as spare parts. These filters are marked with a black or blue dot on the container next to the part number.
Please be advised that all previous type Mann & Hummel filter elements have been eliminated and only the modified filter elements are presently stocked at all Parts Depots.
