Electronic Brake Pressure Distribution Function
MODEL 163 with CODE (212a) Electronic traction support (ETS)
MODEL 163 with CODE (472a) Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
The electronic brake pressure distribution function is integrated in the ETS/SPS control module (N47-2) or ESP, SPS and BAS control module (N47-5) and works without an additional system of sensors. It replaces the ((automatic load-sensitive brake pressure control) (ALB) familiar on models 460/461/463.
The wheel speeds of all 4 wheels are monitored continuously in the ETS/SPS control module (N47-2) or the ESP, SPS and BAS control module (N47-5). When braking, initially all wheel speeds decelerate at an even rate. However, as the braking force increases the rear axle brake tends to overbrake.
As a result increased slip arises at the rear wheels. If the slip thresholds set in the ETS/SPS control module (N47-2) or ESP, SPS and BAS control module (N47-5) are exceeded, the brake pressure in the rear wheel brake is controlled by means of pressure holding in the hydraulic unit. This is achieved by actuating the appropriate solenoid valves in the hydraulic unit without actuating the high pressure and return pump (A7/3m1).
