Removing And Installing Ignition Switch Shift Lock Cable

1 Turn ignition key to position "1"
2 Remove cover on driver's side below instrument panel.
3 Remove cover on right next to steering column
4 Uncouple shift lock cable

NOTE: Press together retaining tugs (Figure 1, A) at the top and push upwards.

5 Remove stop lamp switch at brake pedal
6 Press and hold down adjusting knob (Figure 2, A) at bottom end of shift lock cable. At the same time push the cable towards the adjuster.

NOTE: This creates play to facilitate Die removal of the cable.

7 Release adjusting knob.
8 Detach shift lock cable

NOTE: Press together retaining lugs and pull cable out of bracket (Figure 2, B).

9 Detach end of cable at brake pedal
10 Remove shift lock cable
11 Install in the reverse order
12 Adjust shift lock cables.
