GF54.50-P-2006GH Range, Function

GF54.50-P-2006GH Range, Function
- with CODE (245) Trip computer

The estimated range is displayed in either miles (top figure) or in kilometers (bottom figure).

The current range is calculated from the quantity of fuel currently available and the average fuel consumption.

The trip computer control unit (RRE) (N41) needs the following information for determining the current range:
- average quantity of fuel consumed via CAN engine compartment from the injection system control unit (N3)
- the four wheel speeds via the CAN engine compartment from the traction systems control unit (N47)
- The quantity of fuel in the fuel tank from the instrument cluster (A1) via the engine compartment CAN.

On account of the measurement tolerances and the limited resolution during the determination of the tank level, the value displayed for the range can show sudden changes of up to approx. 5 miles approx. 10 kilometers).

If the fuel level in the tank has fallen into the reserve range, the current fuel consumption is taken into account to a greater extent when calculating the range.

In addition the display changes between the displays "FUEL" and remaining driving distance with the fuel still remaining. However, as soon as there are less than 1.5 gallons (6 liters) of fuel in the fuel tank, only the word "FUEL" is left flashing.

This only applies when the country adjustment on the trip computer is on "USA". For all other national adjustments only the remaining driving distance together with the remaining fuel is displayed.

The reserve range here may differ slightly from the reserve range of the fuel display in the instrument cluster (A1).
