Removal and Replacement
Remove/Install Catalytic Converter Or Front Exhaust System
1 Remove left and right wheelhouse liners
2 Remove front springs
3 Remove heat shield (1)
NOTE: Left wheel-house only.
4 Remove connectors (G3/3x1, G3/4x1, G3/5x1, G3/6x1) from O2 sensor (G3/3, G3/4, G3/5, G3/6)
5 Remove exhaust bracket (2)
NOTE: To do this, unscrew bolts (3) and nuts (4).
CAUTION: Installation: Check threaded rails (5), replace if necessary.
- Replace nuts (4).
6 Undo exhaust clamps (6) at rear exhaust system
NOTE: The exhaust clamps (6) are welded on.
CAUTION: Installation: Replace nuts.
7 Disconnect front exhaust systems from rear exhaust system
8 Unscrew bolts (7) at flange connection (8, 9) securing front exhaust system to exhaust manifold
CAUTION: Installation: Replace screws (7).
- Inspect rivet nuts in exhaust manifold, replace if necessary.
9 Lift out catalytic converters/front exhaust system
CAUTION:
- Make sure that the shrouds on the vehicle floor are not damaged when the catalytic converters (10) are removed and installed.
- Install catalytic converters free of tension.
10 Install in the reverse order
