REC/FRESH Air Lever - Does Not Stay in Set Position

REC/FRESH AIR LEVER DOES NOT STAY IN THE SET POSITION.
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VIN(s)
All 1999-2000 Protege with VINs lower than JM1BJ22**Y0 192841.
DESCRIPTION
The REC/FRESH select lever will not stay in the FRESH position when doors are closed (windows rolled-up). Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Remove glove box according to Workshop Manual (section 09-17 INTERIOR TRIM).
3. Set REC/FRESH select lever to FRESH position.
4. Pull cable clip tang enough to release the cable.
5. Pull cable down to align the set hole of the air intake link with the boss hole of the blower unit case.
6. Secure cable back in clip.
7. Move REC/FRESH select lever to REC then back to FRESH to confirm that the air intake door fully closes when in the FRESH position.
8. Reinstall glove box.
9. Verify repair.
