Fuel Injector on-Vehicle Inspection

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the fuel injectors to perform the following procedures.

Resistance

1. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors.

2. Measure resistance of the fuel injectors by using an ohmmeter.

Resistance:
Approx. 13.8 Ohm [2O° C {68° F}]

3. If not as specified, inspect continuity of the harness, and inspect for poor connection. If the harness is okay, replace the fuel injector.

Fuel Leakage Test

WARNING: Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage if fuel is spilled over a hot engine. Always carry out the following procedure with the engine stopped.

1. Complete the "BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE". (Refer to BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE.)

Before Repair Procedure

2. Remove the fuel distributor from the intake manifold.

3. Connect the fuel hoses as shown.

CAUTION: Connecting the wrong data link connector terminals may possibly cause a malfunction. Carefully connect the specified terminals only.

4. Connect the data link connector terminals F/P and GND by using a jumper wire.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON and inspect for fuel leaks from the fuel injectors.

Fuel leakage
Less than 1 drop/2 minutes

6. Turn off the ignition switch and disconnect the jumper wire.
7. If not as specified, remove the leaking fuel injector and inspect the fuel injector fitting.
8. Install the fuel injector.

9. Inspect the fuel injector for fuel leakage.
10. If leakage still occurs, replace the fuel injector.
11. Complete the "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE". (Refer to AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE.)

Volume Test

WARNING
- Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from fuel.
