6. One-Way Clutch 2 and Carrier Hub Assembly
ONE-WAY CLUTCH 2 AND CARRIER HUB ASSEMBLYPreinspection
While holding the one-way clutch inner race, verify that the one-way clutch rotates smoothly when turned clockwise and locks when turned counterclockwise. If not as specified, replace the one-way clutch 2.
Disassembly / Inspection / Assembly
1. Disassemble in the order shown in the figure.
2. Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly, referring to Assembly Procedure.
Inspection
One-Way Clutch 2
1. Check the one-way clutch 2 operation.
2. Install the inner race to one-way clutch 2, and verify that one-way clutch 2 turns smoothly and only clockwise. If. one-way clutch 2 turns or locks in both directions, replace one-way clutch 2. If one-way clutch 2 turns only counterclockwise, it might have been installed backwards.
3. Replace the one-way clutch 2 if it is damaged or malfunctioning.
Carrier Hub Assembly
Check for the following and repair or replace as necessary.
1. Damaged and worn gears, and incorrect operation.
2. Clearance between pinion washers and planetary carrier.
Clearance: 0.2 - 0.7 mm (0.008 - 0.028 inch)
3. If not within specification, replace the carrier hub assembly.
Assembly Procedure
1. Install the carrier hub assembly to the inner race.
2. Install the snap ring.
3. Apply petroleum jelly to the bearing races.
4. Install the tabs of the bearing races into the alignment holes on each side of the one-way clutch carrier hub assembly.
Bearing race outer diameter
Sun gear drum side: 72.0 mm (2.83 inch)
3-4 clutch side: 56.1 mm (2.21 inch)
