Disassembly and Assembly
SELECTOR LEVER DISASSEMBLY/ ASSEMBLY1. Disassemble in the order indicated in the table.
2. Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly in the table.
Connector Disassembly Note
1. Insert a thin piece of metal from the terminal side of the connector, and press down the terminal locking tab.
2. Pull the terminal out of the connector.
Push Nut Disassembly Note
NOTE: Do not reuse the removed push nut.
Remove the push nut by using a flat head screwdriver, etc.
Spindle Disassembly Note
CAUTION: The base plate is made of resin and so that it is easily damaged. Do not damage the base plate when removing the spindle by tapping with a plastic hammer.
note: If the shift lever and the spindle or the shift-lock lever are fixed together and cannot be removed separately, replace the selector lever component.
Remove the spindle by tapping with a plastic hammer.
Spindle Assembly Note
NOTE: Before installation, clean the inner and outer surfaces of the boss and the through hole of the spindle in the base plate. After cleaning, cover each friction part with cold resistance grease.
CAUTION: The base plate is made of resin and so that it is easily damaged. Do not damage the base plate when pressing in the spindle by using a plastic hammer.
Set the shift lever and the new shift-lock lever to the base plate. Then press in the new spindle by using a suitable pipe and a plastic hammer.
Push Nut Assembly Note
Press in the new push nut by using a suitable pipe and a plastic hammer. Be careful not to remove the pressed spindle when pressing the push nut.
Cam Assembly Note
1. Loosely install the cam to the push rod.
2. Adjust the clearance between the guide plate and the guide pin by turning the cam.
3. The clearance can be made smaller by turning the cam clockwise.
4. Install the selector lever knob and verify that the clearance is as specified.
5. If necessary, repeat from step 2.
6. Remove the selector lever knob.
7. Apply grease to the cam as shown.
Indicator Panel Assembly Note
1. Shift the selector lever to P position.
2. Align the alignment screws in the slider with the holes in the indicator panel. Install heavy-gauge wire to hold the slider.
3. Temporary install the indicator panel to the selector lever bracket.
4. Tighten the indicator panel screws in the order shown in the image.
Tightening torque 2.0 - 2.9 Nm (20 - 30 kgf-cm, 18 - 26 inch lbs.)
5. Remove the wire.
6. Verity that the selector lever properly aligns with the indicator panel in all ranges and positions.
7. After installing all components, verify that the shift lock operates normally and the feeling when operating the shift lever is okay.
8. Cover the both ends of the spindle with the sealant.
