Condenser Fan Relay Inspection
CONDENSER FAN RELAY OPERATION/INSPECTION- Verify that engine is cold and the A/C switch and fan switch are OFF.
- Start the engine and let it idle.
- Verify that the condenser fan is not operating.
- If the condenser fan is operating, check the short circuit in wiring between condenser fan relay and PCM terminal 1A.
- Turn the A/C switch and fan switch on.
- Verify that the condenser fan is operating.
- Turn the A/C switch and fan switch off.
- If the condenser fan does not operate, do as follows.
- Connect the SSTs (NGS) to the data link connector-2.
- Select the SIMULATION TEST function on the NGS display.
- Turn the condenser fan relay from OFF to ON by using the FAN N" and check for the condenser fan operation.
- If the condenser fan operates, check the following.
- PCM terminal voltage
- A/C signal
- If the condenser fan does not operate, do as follows.
- Turn the condenser fan relay from OFF to ON by using the simulation function. Operate the condenser fan relay and check if the operation sound of the relay is heard.
- If the operation sound is heard, check the following.
- Wiring harness and connectors (Condenser fan relay - Condenser fan motor)
- Condenser fan motor
- If the operation sound is not heard, check the following.
- Condenser fan relay
- Open circuit in wiring harness and connectors (Main relay - PCM)
