Hydraulic Assembly

Refer to Anti-Lock Brakes/Testing and Inspection/Procedures in this section for hydraulic unit motor and harness testing.
1. With battery at full charge, start engine and ensure ABS Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) goes out. If lamp stays on, ABS control unit detects a system malfunction and will not activate hydraulic unit.
2. Shut engine off, then raise and support vehicle and place transaxle in Neutral position.
3. With parking brake released, rotate each wheel by hand to inspect for brake drag; correct as necessary.
4. Using a suitable jumper wire, connect diagnostic connector TBS terminal to ground, Fig. 16 and 21.

5. With brake pedal depressed, ensure right front wheel will not rotate; then, with pedal still depressed, place ignition switch in On position and ensure wheel is allowed to rotate for approximately one half second as pressure reduction takes place.
6. Inspect left front, right rear, then left rear wheel rotation as described for right front wheel. If operation is as specified, ABS hydraulic unit, solenoid, ABS motor and ABS control unit are satisfactory. This inspection cannot detect an intermittent malfunction.
7 If operation is not as specified, replace ABS hydraulic unit.
