Disassembly & Assembly

1. Disassemble driveshaft in numbered sequence shown, Fig. 12, noting the following:

a. Boot band and ABS sensor rotor do not need to be removed unless replacement is required.
b. During disassembly, mark outer ring and shaft for assembly reference.
c. During disassembly, mark shaft, tripod joint and free rings for assembly reference.

2. Reverse disassembly sequence to assemble, noting the following:
a. On Protege models equipped with 1.5L engine, use a suitable press and installation tool No. 49-B025-006, or equivalent, to replace ABS rotor with a new rotor if it has been removed.
b. On Protege models equipped with 1.8L engine, use a suitable press and installation tool No. 49-B025-003, or equivalent, to replace ABS rotor with a new rotor if it has been removed.
c. On Millenia models, use a suitable press and installation tool No. 49-G025-001, or equivalent, to replace ABS rotor with a new rotor if it has been removed.
d. Ensure boots are installed in positions shown, Fig. 13 and 14.

e. Ensure driveshaft length is set to dimensions shown in Fig. 15 and 16.
