Fuel Pressure Control Solenoid: Description and Operation
Pressure Regulator Control System:
The Pressure Regulator Control (PRC) Solenoid Valve, is a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controlled component of the pressure regulator control system.
The PRC system raises fuel pressure to prevent fuel percolation during hot engine restart. Under specified conditions, the PCM closes the solenoid valve to block vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator. This raises fuel pressure by allowing the pressure regulator to control fuel pressure without vacuum modulation.
Under the following conditions, the PCM activates the PRC system for approximately 120 seconds after starting:
1. Coolant temperature above 70°C (158°F).
2. Intake air temperature above 20°C (68°F).
