CREAKING / KNOCKING NOISE FROM REAR OF VEHICLE

DESCRIPTION
A creaking or knocking noise may be heard while driving over bumps or making turns. This noise may be caused by loose diagonal braces (behind the rear seat).
If a customer complains of this noise, repair the vehicle according to the instructions in this bulletin.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
NOTE:
Service Manager should place a copy of this bulletin in the appropriate section of the NVH manual.
1. Verify the concern.
^ If the noise is coming from the rear of the vehicle as described above, proceed to step 2.
^ If the noise is not coming from the rear of the vehicle or is not consistent with the symptoms described above, refer to the NVH manual or workshop manual for troubleshooting and repair instructions.
2. Remove the rear seat and inspect the right and left diagonal braces for tightness.
^ lithe three (3) upper or four (4) lower mounting bolts are loose, torque to 70-105 in-lbs.
^ If the mounting bolts are not loose, refer to the NVH or workshop manual for troubleshooting and repair instructions.
3. Road test the vehicle to verify the repair.
